A Professor of “Chemical Plants and Processes” at the University of Venice Professor Lidia has been a project leader of several national Italian and international projects concerning chemical and environmental engineering. Since May 2008, she is a Scientific Attache’ to the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi. She has been very active in promoting Indo-Italian scientific and technological collaboration in priority sectors defined by both the countries. She has been collaborating with the Indian research organizations since 1995 through the bilateral projects financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Council for Research (CNR, Rome) with the Department of Science and Technology and the CSIR institutions as partners. The bilateral research projects carried out with the Indian Colleagues have resulted in one joint patent, 30 scientific papers in journals of international repute, 32 book chapters and 6 books co-authored with Indian colleagues (5 published in India and one in the United States).

Her scientific activity has been widely recognized in India: she has been invited as a member of the Editorial Board of 4 scientific journals published in India in the field of environment protection namely Industrial Pollution Control, Pollution Research, and Journal of Indian Association for Environmental Management and Environment Conservation Journal. Her contributions to the scientific activity concerned the topics related to the chemical environmental engineering and removal of wastes from soil and water has been instrumental. Her work on application of electrochemical processes to the problems of removal of pollutants of industrial origin from water and soil, with a particular concern to the design of electrochemical reactors, treatment of industrial wastewater (in particular tannery, textile, from metal plating and food industries) is worth mentioning.

She has been a member of numerous professional and scientific committees. Member of the Association of Engineers of the Province of Padova, a member of the Panel of Examiners of the PhD Thesis at the Faculties of Chemical Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, University of Madras, and of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Banaras Hindu University (India). A member of the panel of referees of international Journals: Chemical Engineering Science, Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Journal of Environmental Engineering & Science, Canada, Water Research, Industrial Engineering and Chemistry Research, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, Chemosphere, Electrochimica Acta, Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research, Water Science and Technology; Advances in Environmental Research and others.

Author/co-author of more than 150 scientific publications in international journals of repute and conferences.
