B.K. Bala is a professor in the Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He is now working as a national consultant on agriculture and food security, UNDP, Rangamati, Bangladesh. He received B.Sc (Engg) degree in electrical engineering in 1969 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, M. Eng in agricultural systems and management from Asian institute of Technology in 1975 and Ph.D in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK in 1983. He has published 179 scientific research papers in peer reviewed international journals and he is also the author of seven books in the fields of solar drying, drying and storage of agricultural products, system dynamics, renewable energy, electrical engineering, and energy and environment published 5 in India and 2 in USA. He was awarded the best paper award by the System Dynamics Society of India on computer modeling of integrated farming systems and environment in 2000. He has supervised Ph.D students in the fields of solar drying of agricultural products and modeling of agricultural and socio-economic systems, food security and climate change impacts on agriculture and fishery. His main areas of research are solar drying and PV hybrid systems, drying and storage of agricultural products, food security and climate change impacts on agriculture, fishery and forestry and also modeling of agricultural, biological, aquacultural, environmental and socio-economic systems and multi agent systems modeling of farming systems.

Prof. T.T. Chow received his Bachelor and Master degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Hong Kong, his MBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and his Ph.D from the ESRU (Energy Systems Research Unit) of the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. He is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and a Registered Professional Engineer (HK) in mechanical, building services and fire disciplines. He is also Fellows of HKIE (Hong Kong Institution of Engineers), CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building services Engineers), and ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers, Inc). He is a past president of the ASHRAE Hong Kong Chapter. He served as committee members in many prestigious international conferences like Healthy Buildings, Indoor Air, Building Simulation, etc., and acted as the Chair of the 4th IAQVEC international conference in 2001. He is currently the Associate Professor and Director of the Building Energy and Environmental Technology Research Unit of the Division of Building Science and Technology at the City University of Hong Kong. He has had guest professorship in a number of universities, such as the Hunan University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and the Shanghai University of Electric Power. His research interest lies in energy and environmental engineering. He received the first class award of progression in science and technology from the Ministry of Education of China, and the second class award of science and technology from the Anhui Province Municipal Government in 2007. He has over 250 publications in books, journals and conference proceedings, and about half of these are international academic journal articles.

Prof. Christophe Ménézo, Head of Chair Research and Education “Habitats and energy Innovations”, INSA of Lyon/Electricity of France. He attained his PhD, in Building Physics, from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in 1999. He has been associate professor at University Lyon1/IUT and researcher on solar systems for 10 years the Centre of Thermal Sciences (CETHIL UMR 5008). In 2005 he became coordinator of the Solar Energy scientific activity at the CETHIL. His research focuses on building integration of solar components and more specifically on photovoltaic and hybrid PV/T components. In 2008 he was recruited at the LOCIE lab. That is part of the National Institute of Solar Energy (INES). He has been a member of the LOCIE UMR 5271/ Savoy Univ. where he was head of Building System and Solar Energy Integration until 2010. Prof. Christophe Ménézo was strongly involved in the recent creation of the CNRS Solar Energy Federation founded and now directed by 5 French laboratories and associating the national academic competences in this field. He is deputy of this CNRS federation. His research is mainly supported by the CNRS, EDF and the National Research Agency (ANR). He is the leader of 2 nationals project is this field. More than 20 publications were published with focuses on hybrid solar technology, building integration of photovoltaic systems and green building technologies. In 2006 (9 months) and 2008 (1 month) he was visiting academics at the University of the New South Wales (Sydney).

Wolfram Sparber studied applied physics in Austria and Spain. He concluded his studies at a research center on solar energy in Germany. Since 2005 he is Head of Institute for Renewable Energy, at the applied research centre EURAC research in Bolzano, Northern Italy. The focus of the institute is in the field of solar energy applications and energy in buildings. Since several years he is involved in the solar energy field within different tasks of the International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling Program.
In 2011 he was elected as Vice President of the European Technology Platform Renewable Heating and Cooling, leading the focus group on hybrid renewable energy systems including heat pumps within the cross cutting technology panel.

Ireland’s largest and most diverse higher education institutions. Previously, Professor Norton was Dean of Engineering and Built Environment at University of Ulster, having served as Professor of Built-Environmental Engineering at University of Ulster since 1989. He has very extensive international links and over €10 million in grants principally for solar energy research. Author or co-author of five advanced texts and over 350 papers including over 180 in major international learned journals. He has supervised forty doctorates. He serves as Associate Editor of “Solar Energy” – the premier international journal in the field and serves on three other editorial boards. He is currently President of the Solar Energy Society of Ireland. Professor Norton has chaired the World Renewable Energy Network, and still chairs Action Renewables. He served on the Board of the UK Building Research Establishment.
He has a BSc (Hons) in Physics from University of Nottingham and MSc and PhD degrees, in Engineering Experimentation and Applied Energy respectively, from Cranfield University and DSc from the University of Nottingham. He is a Fellow of the Energy Institute, the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and Higher Education Academy, and a Chartered Engineer (both in Ireland and the UK). Among his awards are the Napier Shaw Medal of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, the Roscoe Award of the Institute of Energy. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers and a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineering. He is an Honorary Professor of both the University of Ulster and Harbin Institute of Technology.

Professor Tariq Muneer, currently chairs an active group engaged in research on ‘Sustainable Energy’ that includes ‘Sustainable Transport’. Professor Muneer is an international authority on the subject of solar energy and its use in buildings with over 35 years experience. He is the author of over 215 technical articles. Professor Muneer is also a visiting professor for the period of 2013-2020 for University of Granada, Granada, Spain and University of Maribor, Celje campus, Slovenia.
Professor Muneer is the co-ordinator of Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers’ Solar Data Task Group and in this capacity he has been involved in the production of the CIBSE Guides A& J for Weather and Solar Data. Professor Muneer has also been employed both by the government and industry as a consultant on a large number of engineering projects. Professor Muneer has been awarded several prestigious awards including the Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship (2000-02), the Royal Academy of Engineering Engineers Secondment Overseas (1995), the Leverhulme Trust (1989) and the University College, Oxford/General Electric Company (1989) Research Fellowships. He is also the recipient of the Osmania University’s Karamat Jung Gold Medal (1974), CIBSE Carter Bronze Medal (1990), CIBSE Napier Shaw Bronze Medal (1999), Millennium Commission’s Fellowship Award (1999), Walsh-Weston (Society of Light & Lighting, London) Award (2002), Services to Industry Group’s Proof of Concept award (2003) and the Scottish Green Energy, Highly Recommended Best Renewable Award (2006). Under Professor Muneer’s supervision 3 MPhil and 28 PhD candidates have successfully gained their awards. A further five doctoral programmes are currently underway. Professor Muneer has been a PI for one EPSRC grant that dealt with solar radiation and daylight modelling and a co-investigator for two further EPSRC grants that dealt with the subject areas of ‘climate change’ and ‘decentralised grids’.

Dr. V.K. Sharma received his MSc degree in Physics from Punjabi University Patiala (India) in 1978. He received his both Master of Technology in Solid State Material and PhD in Solar Energy from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (India) during the academic year 1980 and 1983, respectively. He began his academic carrier as Senior Scientific Officer (Grade 1) at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and continued working at IIT Delhi till Jan. 1988. It was in Feb.1988, when he migrated to Italy to avail Post Doctoral Fellowship from International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Trieste (Italy). Since then he has been working at different scientific institutions of international prestige; especially, JRC, ENEA, ICTP, UNESCO, etc. He has already acquired vast working experience of more than 34 years (with more than twenty-five years working experience abroad) focusing its research activities predominantly on solar thermal /photovoltaic, develop standards for solar thermal products ( collectors and solar systems) in force throughout Europe, biomass gasification for energy production, second generation biofuels, etc. He has published 140 research papers, three books, won numerous awards both national and international (inclusive of three gold medals), national consultant (UNIDO), Italian expert at CEN/TC 312, Coordinator CEN/TC 312 WG2 and life member of various scientific institutions/ organisations. His research interests are biomass gasification, European standards, second generation biofuels, energy and material recovery from used rubber tyres through pyrolysis and use of semi-solid organic waste for biogas production, Higher Education & Technical Education, Energy, Ecology and Environment, Solar Energy & Energy Efficiency & Conservation, etc.

Dr. Li is a well-known researcher in the field of building energy and daylighting and the applications for sustainable climate. He has published many excellent papers in a number of highly reputed referred international journals. At present, he has published 120 peer-reviewed journal papers of which over 100 are of SCI, SSCI and Architectural Science Review journals. It has been recorded a total of more than 2200 (Scopus) and 1550 (SCI) citations and earned an H-index of 29 (Scopus) and 25 (SCI). He has received a number of internal and external grants in the areas of built environment, renewable and sustainable energy development and daylighting designs. One project was published in the Special Forum Edition, Policy Digest and another project was nominated for Research Grant Council’s consideration under the theme called Photovoltaic.
Dr. Li has served in a number of administrative positions within his department, the major ones being the Associate Program Leader and Program Leader in Building Services Engineering. He was also assigned to provide detailed reports on the operation for assessing the quality teaching and learning for the Internal Quality Audit. He has been appointed as a panel member for the accreditation exercise of the BEng in Building Services Engineering, Advance Diploma in Plumbing Engineering for Building Services and Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering. Dr. Li has contributed extensively to the research field through various professional activities, including serving as the associate editors for Indoor and Built Environment and Architectural Science Review journals and editorial broad of many journals and technical committees to provide technical opinions, reviewing many papers in various journals, organizing international conferences and consultancy work. In particular, Dr. Li is the founding member of the SOLARIS international network in promoting the research and development of daylighting and solar radiation. The recognition of Dr. Li’s research expertise also evidenced by the invited appointments from different Government organization including the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Buildings Department and professional institute.

Prof. Dincer did his BSc in mechanical engineering, from Selcuk University, Konya, Turkey in 1987. He received his MSc degree in mechanical engineering from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in 1991. He has awarded PhD degree in mechanical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in 1993. His areas of research interests are drying, energy and exergy analyses, energy conversion and management, heat and mass transfer, hydrogen and fuel cell systems, refrigeration, renewable energies, thermal energy storage and thermodynamics. Prof. Goswami did his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Delhi, Delhi, India in 1969. He received his M.S. (1971) and Ph.D. (1975) in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama. Presently he is John and Nadia Ramil Professor (since 2005) at University of South Florida. He held a post of Professor and Director in Solar Energy and Energy Conversion Laboratory during 1990-2005 at University of Florida. He worked as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Acting Chairman during 1977-1988 at North Carolina A&T State University. His research interests are Novel Thermodynamic Cycle for Combined Power and Cooling Antenna; Solar Energy to Electricity Conversion; Hybrid Solar Liquid and Solid Desiccant Air Conditioning; Solar Photocatalytic Disinfection of Indoor Air; Thermochemical Hydrogen Production; Biomass Hydrogen Production; PEM Fuel Cells. He has published more than 500 publications and authored many books. He has 7 patents in his research field.
